Vista for ps3 os
As I understand it, Google intends that ChromeOS devices will also be locked down, though it is too early to say whether installing alternative operating systems on these will be possible.
Sony mentions security, and certainly having a protected operating system that can only be updated by the vendor is an excellent security feature. The downside is that it gives greater power to the vendor, to control what you can do with the device, stifle creativity, and potentially to charge more for applications and extensions than is possible with an open system. The upgrade is also forced for certain new games. Typically games use new OS features and bundle or require a new OS release upon first run.
I seriously don't get how people like it better than the Dualshocks. Of course, by the time i beat Bioshock i was pretty much used to it. No doubt about it though, that is by far one of the worst controllers i have ever played a game with. I did the same. It's not that I like the controller better I just hate to use triggers to fire , but it just works out of the box in most cases. Most games recognize the controller right away and change their behavior, while with a standard pad and that is what the Sixaxis becomes is always tricky to configure and map buttons.
Its all good now. Now I don't have to use that crappy controller anymore, praise the heavens. Ive been using the wireless controller on my pc and Ive been loving it.
